My Work-From-Home Journey
My Top 5 Income Producing Affiliates!
Hello everyone. I was emailed a question last week that is worth sharing. Am I making enough money from my proofreading and if not what am I doing to supplement my income? Currently, I am doing okay with my proofreading income, I am not getting super rich. Just as any business starting out in its first year; it takes time to build your clientele. So to supplement my income, I am doing affiliate marketing. If you don’t have the time to read this blog feel free to save it to your Pinterest board and read later.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
In layman’s terms, it means that a retailer or business will pay someone a commision to promote their product, whatever it may be. Now, what you decide to promote is up to you. Almost everyone has an affiliate program nowadays. However, they can also choose not to let you promote their item for various reasons.
I was turned down from one website because my blog didn’t reflect enough on genealogy. Even though it is my passion and hobby, they didn’t feel I was a fit for their product. My family tree is over 23,000 people strong, and I have been paying for the super expensive yearly maxed out package since 2013. Am I upset? Not at all, they have to make sure their items are being promoted in the right arena. I totally get it.
Another reason you can be turned down is not having enough traffic running to your site yet. I understand that also.
Who Do I Promote?
I currently promote products that I use on my blog website. Online classes that I have taken to get me where I am today and also other items that the mentor has published. I also place links from Amazon products throughout some of my blog posts. Now you won’t see me giving a bad review of a class I didn’t like for a couple of reasons. One, I would never want to be sued. Two, it is still publicity for an online course I didn’t like.
Top 5 Income Producing Affiliates!
Of the 16 affiliates that I promote on my website these are my top income producing affiliates?
What is ConvertKit?
Since I am still paying for the cheaper membership on ClickFunnels, I have to use ConvertKit to collect my email subscribers for my website. This helps me know who to send my newsletters to. If I were able to afford the high package in ClickFunnels, I wouldn’t use ConvertKit.
What is SiteGround?
SiteGround is where I get my web hosting from. They have excellent and quick responsive customer service. There have been many times that I am in a group on social media, and a post was made that another hosting site was down. I am happy to say that I haven’t had that issue.
The only problem I’ve had so far with SiteGround was I received an email because I bought the smallest plan just to get my feet wet. However, my traffic increased, and I was beyond my limit of site visitors for what I purchased. In a way, this is good news. People are coming to my website. However, I originally paid $67.20 for the year. To be able to handle the increased traffic coming to my site I had to pay an additional $48.00 for the rest of the year. So worth it! My site hasn’t been down yet.
What is FunnelScripts?
FunnelScripts is a tool I use in conjunction with ClickFunnels. I am not an advertiser and not really that great at knowing what sells something. Or knowing what words to use to make a product enticing. This product helps me with that.
What is ProofreadAnywhere?
ProofreadAnywhere is the online course I took to become a transcript proofreader. This course has changed my life and given me the opportunity to produce income from home and also make money while on vacation. Feel free to read my blog about the ProofreadAnywhere online course.
What is ClickFunnels?
I use ClickFunnels to build my landing pages, my opt-in pages, and my funnels. I never even knew what a funnel was before I decided to start an online business. The best thing about this program is that I didn’t need to know CSS or HTML code. It is super easy to use and worth every penny. What is great about this product is that the first 14 days are free. This will give you enough time to complete the training videos on the website and the ones in the Facebook group to learn how to use the software. Click here to view my opt-in funnel on my website home page.
Was I Surprised?
Of course, I was surprised that these five affiliates were my top producing items. I thought for sure that it would be my free items like the Expert Secrets book or the Dotcom Secrets book. Speaking of books, I am going to suggest a new read for each of my blog posts. Yes, they will be affiliates. On the upside, it will be a book that I like and read.
I Hope This Helped You.
When starting off on our work-from-home journey sometimes we need to supplement our income until we build the clientele that supports our anticipated goals. I hope this blog post helped you find products that you could also become affiliates for. If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment. I would love to know what else you would like to talk about. You could even send a question on the submission form on my website home page.
I look forward to hearing from you, and I will respond to all emails and comments.
This week’s book suggestion is You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero.
